It’s been such a long time since I’ve really posted properly on here, and if I’m being completely truthful, I think I’ve just been so caught up in life that social media has taken a bit of a back seat.
Life has been LIFE-ING 😂 and I know so many parents, especially those with children, will understand exactly what I mean.
Trying to balance work, being a mum, looking after the household, keeping on top of appointments, school things, family life and everything else that comes with being an adult is already a lot. Then when you’re also trying to manage your own pain, tiredness and those days when your body just isn’t cooperating with what your mind wants to do, it can feel like you’re constantly pouring from a cup that never really gets the chance to fill back up.
The summer holidays have definitely been a mixture of lovely memories, laughter, stressful moments, tired days and plenty of “Mum… Mum… MUM!” 😂
I love my children more than anything, but I think parents are allowed to admit that the holidays can be HARD. Keeping everyone entertained, fed, happy and occupied while still trying to work, keep the house together and somehow look after yourself at the same time is no small task.
There have definitely been days where I’ve looked around and thought, “What have I actually achieved today?” and then remembered that everybody is alive, everybody has eaten and we’ve somehow made it through another day — so I’ll take that as a win 😂❤️
Now the kids are finally back at school, I feel like I can slowly start getting myself back into some kind of routine again.
Maybe finish a cup of tea while it’s still hot ☕️😂
Maybe hear myself think for five minutes.
Maybe actually get through my to-do list without being interrupted 57 times.
And most importantly, maybe start making a little bit more time for ME again.
I think sometimes as parents we get so used to putting everybody else first that we forget we’re still a person outside of being “Mum”, being a partner, working and taking care of everyone else.
So this is me slowly finding my way back.
Back to posting a little more.
Back to doing things I enjoy.
Back to laughing at myself.
Back to trying to find a better balance between work, family, health, home and actually having a life somewhere in between it all.
I’m definitely still figuring it out, and I’m sure there will still be days where everything feels completely chaotic, but that’s life.
So to all the mums, dads and carers who have survived the summer holidays and are now standing in a strangely quiet house wondering what to do with themselves… WE MADE IT 😂🙌🏽❤️
Here’s to the school routine returning, hot cups of tea, a little bit of peace and hopefully finding some time to fill our own cups again too.
And who knows… you might even start seeing me on here a little more often again. ❤️✨
